The 7 Best Happy Hours in Grand Rapids | Your Guide to Grand Rapids Drink Specials
Rockwell Republic is an elegant, yet simplistic restaurant on the south end of the historic Heartside. They offer made-from-scratch dishes with and emphasis on seasonal food options. The happy hour at Rockwell Republic is one of the best in downtown. It runs Monday through Friday, 3pm to 6pm and Sunday through Thursday, 10pm to 12am. On the weekends, it runs Friday and Saturday 10pm to 1:30am and Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 3pm. They feature $7 specials on food, with an emphasis on sushi rolls and small plates. Some of these small plates include Sticky Chicken, Pork Dumplings, Beer Cheese Dip, and Hummus. The drink specials for happy hour include Michigan craft beers and cocktails. A favorite is their $13 sangria pitchers. They also have $4 cosmos, $5 daiquiris, and $6 mules and select wine pours. The Michigan craft beers include Bell’s, Founders, Perrin, and Brewery Vivant for $3.75 drafts. They also have a wonderful beer garden patio area that is great for warm weather dining.
2. Butcher’s Union:
Butcher’s Union is a mid-scale casual dining restaurant. Look for the big, bright blue doors they are known for on Bridge St, just across the river. They have a wonderful, friendly ambiance in the restaurant with two patio areas available as well. They are known for their meat and whiskey specialties, but don’t let that fool you. There are a variety of cocktails, beers, and others menu options that are sure to impress. Butcher’s Union offers a happy hour Monday through Friday, 3pm to 6pm. This happy hour includes $3.50 select craft beer pours, $4.50 select wine pours, and $6 select house cocktails. The food on their happy hour ranges from chips and dip and burgers to enchiladas and Fingerling Hash. Butcher’s Union offers a special late-night menu Friday and Saturday nights from 11:30pm to 1am. This menu features several dips, enchiladas, desserts and meat pies at discounted prices.
3. Maru Sushi:
If you are a fan of sushi or hibachi, then you need to know about Maru Sushi. This is one of the best sushi restaurants in Grand Rapids. They have an impressive happy hour with drink and food discounts. This runs Monday through Saturday, from 2:30pm to 5pm as well as Sunday from 11:30am to 3pm. This features 25% off Hibachi Grills as well as Signature, Specialty and Vegetarian rolls. They also feature $3 selects drafts and $2 off all wine by the glass. What could be better than this? How about the ability to order happy hour priced food for takeout? This is the place to be for deals on sushi and hibachi. If you choose to dine in, check out the outdoor seating area… as long as it isn’t raining of course.
No matter what part of Grand Rapids you are in, there is a Uccello’s nearby. They have locations in downtown, Grandville, Standale, Rockford, Caledonia, and on the East Beltline. This Italian style cuisine has many menu options, with specialties in chicken, pasta and pizza. The pizzas they serve are made from scratch and cooked over a wood fire. They offer happy hour specials Monday through Friday, 3pm to 6pm. These specials include $2 domestic bottles and short domestic drafts. Also offered are $4 tall domestic drafts, beer flights, house wine, and Bellini’s. You can get $3 well drinks and short craft beers and $5 sangria, mules, mojitos and margaritas. They do offer food specials as well, but these vary between locations. The best food specials are during the late night happy hour. This runs Sunday through Thursday, 10pm until close. During this, you can get $3.99 9-inch, 3-topping pizzas and $2.99 bread sticks. During this time, all other appetizers and draft beers are half off as well.
The Wheelhouse is located conveniently next to Van Andel Arena and right in the heart of downtown. With this prime location, why not stop in for a drink or snack after work or before you go out? They have a great selection of artisan cocktails, craft beers, and global foods. They offer a happy hour Monday through Friday, 3pm to 6pm. This includes half off all drinks and half off select appetizers. These apps include Chorizo Chili Fries, Hummus, Deviled Eggs and more. They are also partnered with DTN Property Management. This applies if you reside at Arena Place, Venue Tower, or Gateway at Belknap. Show your ID and you will receive 20% off your meal Monday through Thursday. If there are big events going on downtown, then there may be happy hour restrictions, so be sure to call ahead and ask.
6. Flanagan’s Irish Pub:
This tucked away Irish Bar is one of Grand Rapids’ best little stops for lunch, dinner or happy hour. From the authentic Irish food to the live music and daily drink specials, they have a little for everyone. The happy hour is Monday through Thursday, 4pm to 6pm. This includes $1 off all drafts and $2 off call liquors and appetizers. You can also get $3 wells during this time. There are also daily specials on top of the happy hour. Monday features happy hour all day and Wednesday has $7 burger and beer baskets for lunch. Tuesday has $15 whiskey flights and Thursday you can get $5 margaritas and Jameson. The bar underwent renovations under new management several years ago. So if you remember Flanagan’s from back in the day, be ready to be amazed.
7. The Chop House:
If you are looking for upscale dining and drink specials, check out the Chop House. This high end restaurant offers great happy hour prices daily from 5pm to 7pm. They are not open on Sundays though as an exception. The specials include $5 signature cocktails, including Manhattans and Martinis. They also feature a $5 wine of the day. For food, they have small plate options as well. These include a Caesar salad, lamb chops, and shrimp and calamari dishes. The happy hour is available only in the bar and lounge area. For an upscale restaurant, these are some pretty good deals. Also remember, at The Chophouse you get an exclusive discount on your birthday.
