Million Dollar Habits | Living The Life You Want
There is so much wealth and money in the world today. The key to being wealthy is finding the niche that the money is in, and keeping healthy habits. The average millionaire reads more than the average “Joe”. They also generally start their day before their neighbor. If you tailor your life to your goals, you will most assuredly achieve them. All you have to do is make a routine, and stick to it with tenacity and focus.
Get up early
One of the most common traits of your “average” millionaire, is getting your day started early. By starting your day early, you get a leg up on your competition as they sleep. Another benefit of starting your day early, is the peace and quiet. Without the normal distractions clouding up your mental space, you can focus entirely on what you need to get done. Most of the time, there will probably not be anyone else at the gym at 5 in the morning, and you won’t have to worry about distractions. You can lift confidently knowing that there isn’t a crowd of people waiting for your machine or checking you out while you are working out.
Take it Step by Step
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” -Laozi. This quote from the 64th chapter of the Chinese Tao Te Ching, is still applicable today. It can be interpreted a few different ways, but I believe it refers to goals. Even if you feel like the goals you have, or the plans that you have, are daunting and seemingly impossible, all you have to do is start. Even something taken literally, such as an actual journey of a thousand miles, becomes less and less with each step toward your goal. The most complicated recipes, formulas, or really anything, take steps to complete. From gathering the ingredients, to the equipment and settings, to the process, and lastly, the finish.
In the sense of a business, you must break it down into steps as well. First, you need to gather the skills and information needed to start your venture. Then you must accumulate the capital and resources needed to create your product. Once you have that, you need to take another step by researching and developing your product. Finally, you can launch your product. Congratulations! You have just taken some steps toward your goal, and reduced the amount of work left to do in order to achieve your goal!
Reading books is probably the most underrated habit of the wealthy. It is crucial to increase your knowledge base in order to increase your bank account. With today’s technology, reading books does not necessarily mean print books only. The internet is chock full of digital books and information that helps you gain new skills. Around 85% of self-made millionaires read at least one book per month, with many reading two or more. Audio books are a fantastic alternative to printed press as well. You can listen to something new while on your morning commute to work, or on any trip, even walking! Just pop in some headphones, click play, and let the orator’s voice fill your eardrums with knowledge and useful information. I find it relaxing to sit in a comfortable chair or couch and read. Find a place you enjoy, and stick to it.
Try New Things
Trying new things leads to new skills, inevitably. In order to do something brand new, you have to learn something brand new. One major benefit of trying new things like this, is that you can take the skills you learned doing this one thing, and apply them to others. For example, if you learn how to build a website, you can then take the skills from that and build a site for yourself. You were able to take the skill you learned from something new (web building) and use that in order to make a website for your business. While you may not have realized it, you learned a skill that can blossom into many others. That’s the beauty of learning something new.
Eat Healthy Foods
This might seem like a minor point, but your body needs healthy food to function properly. Your brain is no exception to this rule. Be sure to eat the foods that will give you natural energy, and not the foods that will make you crash. Eating plenty of vegetables, drinking water, and only eating “bad” foods in moderation is what your body needs. Fish, nuts, blueberries, coffee, turmeric, and even broccoli are fantastic for brain health. As your most important learning tool, it is imperative to keep your brain running at its top efficiency and potential if you want to be successful. Do not neglect your own health in the race to make money. You cannot enjoy the money you made if you are not alive anymore to do so.
Surround Yourself With Good People
There is a saying that you are the sum of the five closest people to you. If your goal is to make money, you should probably surround yourself with other like-minded individuals in that sense. If you want to be a business owner, go out and meet other people who own businesses. You can learn from them in so many different ways. Learn their habits, both good and bad. Listen to their advice. Watch how they gather business, and pick up any skills that you think is useful and relevant to yours. Ask for help. Your friends who know about business can be your greatest asset, and in some cases maybe they will offer you an opportunity!
